Priscilla was born January 26, 1941 in Waubay, South Dakota. She grew up on a farm in Grenville, South Dakota, the second youngest of seven children. She went to Grenville High School for three years and then graduated from Aberdeen Central High School. She attended Northern State College in Aberdeen for a few years before training to be a flight attendant. She flew for Capitol and then United Airlines until she retired.
Priscilla married Robert Smithhart in 1975. They were together for nearly 37 years until Bob’s passing in 2012.
She is survived by her two children, Carter Smithhart (Lisanna) and Noelle Smithhart (Bradford); her step sons Rick Smithhart (Kathryn), James Smithhart (Sissi), and step daughter; Jenny Dibley (Doug); her granddaughters Audrey Smithhart, Savannah Smithhart, and Melody Smithhart; her step-grandchildren Michelle Dittamore, Colin Dittamore, Sam Smithhart, and Scott Smithhart; and her step-great grandson Grayson Newte. She is also survived by her brother Larry; her sisters Adelaide, Lucille, and Marcella; her sisters-in-law Margie and Mary Lou; and brother-in-law Alan. She was preceded in death by her brother Leon and sister Delphine.
Priscilla sang with Sweet Adelines; was active with PTA and music boosters when Carter and Noelle were in school; was active with the local chapters of the Red Hat Society and Flight Attendant Union; mentored several refugees from Sudan; and supported various organizations Carter and Noelle were involved in. She loved to host events like an annual Christmas cookie exchange and Christmas caroling party. Priscilla was a kind, generous, and loving person with a great sense of humor. She loved to read, listen to classical music, jazz, and opera, garden, watch Jeopardy!, and root for the Mariners. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
