Myrtle "Ruth" Overholser

Myrtle Ruth Overholser went home to be with Jesus on Sunday morning, May 3, 2020.

Ruth was born on January 12, 1932 in Opelika, Alabama.  She married and relocated to Newport, Oregon in 1958.  She eventually moved to Washington State to be near her eldest daughter Darlene who eventually became her caregiver.

Ruth was known by her friends as “Ruthie” and by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as Gigi.  Ruth was a natural born cook and loved cooking for family and friends.  Using these skills, she became a chef at several well-known restaurants.  After retirement, Ruth enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, crocheting, needle point, watching John Wayne movies and reading western books.

Ruth was predeceased by her sister Sylvia, and son Dalton.  She is survived by her son Joe and her daughters Darlene, Karen, Helen, Teresa, 11 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.  Ruth will be remembered for her unconditional love and her kindness to others.  She will surely be missed by all
