Katherine Roberts-Lee Obituary

Katherine (Kathy) Roberts-Lee passed away peacefully, and surrounded with love, on October 28th, 2022, in Federal Way, Washington. Our beloved Kathy’s life embodied the idea of “work hard so you can play hard.” She was always the life of the party and her enthusiasm and gumption has left all of us with an amazing story to tell of a life well lived. Kathy was the person you wanted to be with.  Whether you needed comfort and care or needed a night out and a good time, Kathy was the person to seek.  She was the star of the local nightclub scene.  In her youth, her natural beauty made her perfect for the role of trophy girl at her brothers’ stock care races.  Always the hostess, the parties she threw at Lake Washington and on yachts are legendary. As she grew the location of those goods times shifted, but the fun and excitement remained the same. Kathy was the aunt and grandmother known for taking the kids in her family to the water park, hosting sleepovers, and for letting her nieces and granddaughter play dress up with her makeup and high heel collection. She consistently showed up to the graduations, recitals, competitions, and games the kids in her family were involved in. When she took up country line dancing it surprised no one that she was star in that scene, just as she had been a star in the nightclubs of her youth. To be with Kathy was to have a good time and be engulfed in her glow.

As if she was channeling Elizabeth Taylor, Kathy was the picture of elegance and glamour. Kathy’s commitment to love showed deeply in her home, which was always welcoming. Her home was where people wanted to be, especially on holidays. No matter the size, you would always find Kathy’s home decorated to feminine perfection. At Christmas her love of pink truly shined, with everything, down to the wrapping paper, coordinated and PINK. Her home was often referred to as a real-life Barbie dream house, but Barbie’s home never had the love and comfort Kathy’s did.

Fiercely independent, Kathy owned her own successful business that remained profitable up until her death. Her work ethic, strength, and grace served her well in her courageous navigation of multiple cancer diagnoses. Kathy fought hard, was beautiful every step of the way, and never once let cancer get the best of her.  Kathy thrived as a single mother and stepmother, constantly focused on being the best mother (and later grandmother) she was capable of being. If you knew Kathy you knew how deep her love for her son ran, and how deeply proud of him she was. For Kathy, her son and granddaughter brought her immense joy, and their success was the thing she considered her greatest accomplishment.

Kathy will be, and is already, deeply missed by her son Terr MacMillan, granddaughter Tamara MacMillian, her stepchildren, a large community of friends and neighbors who were like family, colleagues, numerous siblings, and by her nieces and nephews. Those who love Kathy take great comfort in knowing that she is now with her mother and the adobale pups she loved throughout her life. More than anything we are grateful she is at peace.

A celebration of life for Kathy will be held on December 12, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Edline & Yahn Covington Funeral Chapel, 27221 156th Ave. SE, Kent, WA.
