John Kilara Okot-Okidi

John Kilara Okot-Okidi, age 28, passed away on April 29th, 2023, in Renton, Washington. He was born on January 9th, 1995, in Lewiston, Idaho, to James and Franka Okot-Okidi. John was the beloved brother of Miriam, Holly, Joy, Matthew, and Andrew. He was preceded in death by his brother Peter.

John was a kind and loving son, brother, and friend. He had a passion for basketball, which he played with great skill and enthusiasm. John's dedication to the game was unmatched, and he spent countless hours honing his skills on the court. His competitive spirit and love of the game inspired all those who played with him.

In addition to his passion for basketball, John had an exceptional skill for baking pies, bringing joy to his family. John was a social person and enjoyed hanging out with friends, sharing jokes, and making people laugh. John's sense of humor could brighten even the toughest of situations, and his remarkable ability to find humor in all circumstances made him a treasured friend.

There was a time when John was younger when he would tell his mom while driving, "Mommy, you are driving. Just go, beat the cars,” and he would be so happy when his mom would pass the cars on the other lane. John loved to compete, and he approached life with a fierce determination to succeed.

As a child, John had a fondness for cowboy boots, which he often wore with pride. With his contagious smile and warm personality, John was able to draw people to him effortlessly. John had a unique way of making those around him feel valued and loved.

John will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His family and friends take comfort in the knowledge that he is now reunited with his brother Peter, who preceded him in death. May John's memory live on in the hearts of those he touched during his time with us.

There will be a reception at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, where refreshments will be provided.
