Grover William Copple

On Monday, June 26th, 2023, Grover William Copple, age 63, suffered a major heart attack and left us to be with his parents James Edward and Grace Marie Copple and his older brother, Ronald Lloyd Copple. Grover was born to James and Grace Copple on February 7, 1960, in Independence, Missouri.  

As a child, Bill was all boy wrestling with his older brothers, teasing his sisters, and loving all manner of sports, especially the Kansas City Royals and the Kansas City Chiefs. At 8 years of age, Bill began to suffer from minor seizures that would eventually impede his development mentally and physically. Bill would eventually graduate from a Special Education High School and found work in his parent’s fruit and produce stand known as the Wenatchee Market.  

Bill had a passion for all things Elvis Presley. At one point in his life, he had one of the most complete collections of Elvis vinal records in the area. He collected records, pictures, videos, and could practically quote the lines of every Elvis movie. He would eventually generate some revenue for himself by trading baseball and football cards. He was nearly a savant in his knowledge of Royals and Chiefs statistics. No one would dare argue with him about who was the greatest Royals player of all time – George Brett.  

Bill brought joy and laughter to everyone who knew him.  He had little appreciation for the limitations of his neurological disorder and insisted that he could pretty-well do what the rest of us could do. Bill was a member of the Renton Church of the Nazarene. 

Bill was preceded in death by his father James Edward and his mother Grace Marie, and his brother Ronald Lloyd. He is survived by his brother James Edward, (Wife, Colleen); his two sisters, Amarie Jean (Husband, Robert Russell); Claudia Lee (Husband, Timothy Miller); and Pam Copple (Widow of Ron Copple); and 18 nieces and nephews.  

A public memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 8th, 2023, at the Next Door Church of the Nazarene - 850 Union Ave, NE, Renton, Washington.
