Dorothy was born on a cold Wyoming winter day as the fourth of eleven siblings. She enjoyed the great outdoors, working on a dude ranch, wearing bobby socks and saddle shoes, and most of all being part of a large family.
As a young adult she moved west and met a sailor named Herman. After two short months of courtship they became engaged on Christmas Eve and married the following month.
During her initial time as a Navy man’s wife she too worked for United States Navy as a secretary. In the years that followed, she became the mother of three boys and enjoyed the activities they brought into her life. As her sons took wives her activities changed. She enjoyed being a discussion leader for Bible Study Fellowship and taking on the role of grandmother to seven grandchildren.
Dorothy was married for fifty-seven years before her husband was called home to be with the Lord. Her last years were filled with love and laughter. She was ninety-five years young when she heard the call of her Lord Jesus Christ to leave her earthly abode and live forever with her Savior.
