Elaine Gilmore Obituary

Elaine Mary Gilmore, 81 years old, resident of Kent, Washington, formally of Shelton, and Olympia Washington, passed away on Tuesday, February 6th at her residence at The Weatherly Inn. A Funeral Mass will be held on February 22nd at 11:00 am, at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church, (25810 – 156th Ave S.E. Covington, Washington 98042) with Father Jim Coyne.

Elaine Mary Bentler was born on August 15,1942 in Seattle, Washington to the late Louis and Caroline (Socher) Bentler. Elaine was born a twin with her sister Audrey.  Elaine spent her early childhood with her Aunt Bernice and Uncle Joe in Seattle. When Elaine turned 6 years old, she was reunited with her family. She began elementary school at Showalter and then Foster Jr. Sr. High School. Growing up, Elaine as well as her siblings, worked in the fields in the valley during the summer months. Later, Elaine went to work keeping house and caring for the children of a family in North Seattle. Later she worked for Baby Formula in Seattle, and Fircrest School for the Handicap. Elaine was living in St Theresa’s Catholic boarding house near St James Cathedral in Seattle.

Elaine met Alvin in 1962 and they married four years later, on October 28,1966 in Seattle. Eventually they moved to Shelton where she had resided for 32 years. Following Alvins death in 2001, Elaine moved to Boardwalk 1, a Shag apartment facility in Olympia for 10 years. Eventually Elaine moved to her sister Patsy’s home in Kent, before moving to The Weatherly Inn where Elaine resided until her death.

Elaine loved travelling with family and friends. Her favorite things were cooking and playing Bingo. While living at Patsy’s, she enjoyed sitting out on the back patio and watching the airplanes flying overhead. She had a gifted smile and easy laughter about her. She always had a smile and was friendly to everyone, especially at Weatherly. She was loved by her family and will be missed. Rest in Peace with Our Lord!

Left to cherish her memory are her sisters Patricia Nicaise of Covington, Dee May of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, Audrey Brown of Federal Way, Sandra Finn of Tukwila, Beverly (Bill) Parker of Graham, and sister-in-law Mary Bentler of Seattle and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Caroline Bentler, her husband Alvin, and brother Wayne Bentler.
